DESCRIPTION:Calling all New Orleans area teachers\, educators\, and school staff who are interested in supporting LGBTQ2IA+ students! Join the New Orleans Pride Center and UTNO’s Sanctuary City committee to talk about the recent anti-LGBTQ2IA+ legislation’s impacts on students\, learn about resources\, and start planning strategies of support. Every first Tuesday of the month we gather to talk about LGBTQ2IA+ students’ emerging needs and how we can still work to meet them. Our main goals are to identify pathways for school employees to still be affirming and then share these out in the Greater New Orleans area and beyond. Snacks are always provided!

DESCRIPTION:Every first Wednesday from 5:30-7pm is our new monthly Community Resilience Group\, a therapeutic discussion-based group for LGBTQ+ folks ages 18+. We will be holding these each month as part of our new mental wellness programming. Whether you’re just looking to be in community\, need to share something heavy\, or want to vent about the world\, you’ll find a safe\, welcoming space guided by a trained therapist. \n\n\n\nWe will also be holding a virtual one of these on the third Wednesday of each month. These are challenging times\, but we know that when we come together in community we can overcome any challenge. Let’s hold each other so we can go from surviving to thriving.

SUMMARY:Writing Across the Rainbow Writing Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Writing from the Rainbow is our NEW ongoing monthly LGBTQIA+ workshop focused on all aspects of writing\, including how to get your first words on paper to getting published and sharing your work with the world! \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nAward-winning publisher\, editor\, and writer Sorella Smith will host this event which will also feature other writers as guest presenters. This is an ongoing workshop\, so you can attend as many meetings as you want! This is a free event\, but everyone should bring their own pens\, notebooks\, computers\, and tablets. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nEveryone has stories to tell\, fictional\, factual\, or otherwise. This workshop will assist you with such concepts as world-building\, plotting\, character creation\, continuity maintenance (unless you’re just that stream-of-consciousness writer\, then forget continuity maintenance)\, editing\, sharing and constructive criticism of work\, and the journey forward\, either to publishing or wherever you want to take your writing. All prose types are welcome\, including poetry\, fiction\, nonfiction\, etc. We hope to see you there!
