Public health programs that have supported the LGBTQ+ community for years are being defunded and research studies that had been previously funded are being cancelled. The impacts on our communities will be far reaching and long lasting, so the New Orleans Pride Center is convening local LGBTQ+ and allied frontline workers in the public health sector. Our goals are to identify programs that have been eliminated and those that are under threat, as well as assess strategies to keep programs alive or fill service gaps as they arise.
This group will meet monthly every fourth Thursday at 5:30 pm. Light snacks will be provided. We expect this group to evolve as the situation around public health does. If you have any questions or would like to get more involved with this project, please email info@nolapridecenter.org.
